Green Arts and Artists

Greening the arts in Oxfordshire

Oxford has a vibrant community arts scene, with many artists working closely with communities across the city. We want to support these relationships, supporting artists, organisations and community groups to run climate-focused arts workshops and events during Great Big Green Week.

The Green Arts Oxfordshire Network was set up in January, connecting over 80 organisations and artists responding to the climate emergency. Network members are currently creating a Green Arts Charter to be launched during the Great Big Green Week. If you are an artist or arts and cultural organisation, and want to get involved in the Charter-building and network, please subscribe to their newsletter here or email:  greenartsox@gmail.com.

Calling all artists and creative venues!
We are looking for artists, arts organisations, performance and community groups to share their creative voices and ideas on all things green…

Let us know what you are planning and what support you need. Although we are made up of a small, voluntary team we are working hard to make the Green Week as accessible as possible!

Please fill out these surveys to register your event, let us know what resources you can offer and/or what support you need:

For Artists and Art Groups

For Arts and Cultural Organisations

If you have any further questions or accessibility requirements, please get in touch via arts@greenweekoxon.co.uk. We look forward to hearing from you

Funding for artists and communities

The Great Big Green Week has secured some funds to help resource artists to work with community groups before and during the Green Week (18th – 26th Sept.), engaging with the climate emergency and COP26 through their artistic practice.

We are keen to fund and develop activities or art works that share the group’s ideas, concerns and hopes about the climate crisis, that can lead to more engagement, and that encourage other groups to speak up and act on these issues. We  might look to share these around the Global Day of Action on Climate Change on Sat. Nov. 6th.

Priority will be given to artists working with groups who are not normally actively engaged with the climate emergency.

To apply, please email hello@greenweekoxon.co.uk with a paragraph stating who you are planning on working with and why, a brief outline of the activity and any relevant previous work, and what difference you hope to make with the funding.
